NHA’s Lowari Tunnel Project affairs are under investigation


(RANA TASSADAQ HUSSAIN – ISLAMABAD) The Federal Investigation Agency, Anti Corruption Circle, KPK has initiated an enquiry on the basis of the facts finding enquiry of “inquiry commission on National Highway Authority’s Lowari Tunnel Project”, through letter No. FIA/KPK/ACC/PSR-E-196/2020/112-14, anti corruption authorities have sought following record for further necessary action by the said agency.

  1. Name, designation and job description of all NHA staff deployed for Lowari Tunnel Project Dir (Upper) till date.
  2. Name and profile of project directors in the said project.
  3. Competent authority for appointing/transfer of the project directors.
  4. Any presentation given by the project directors regarding delay/cost escalation of the project.
  5. Attested copy of settlement agreement of an amount of Rs. 1300 million with the contractors of the project.
  6. Complete detail of Rs. 789.37 million, paid to District Administration for land acquisition.
  7. Detail of all violations of PPRA Rules during bidding and evaluation.
  8. Reasons for awarding tender to second lowest at an estimated cost of 445.6 million
  9. Any other relevant documents.

Being a high-profile enquiry, an early reply into the matter has been requested through a well conversant officer in person.

It has been alleged that Murshid Amin Khattak, junior most Director BPS-19 who was facing serious enquiry eight months back with regard to his illegal induction in NHA is now being made to work as Member North Zone, NHA, Peshawar in his own pay and scale over two regular BPS-20 officers because of his close relationship with one of JUI’s MPA on the illegal orders of federal minister of communication Asad Mahmood and Khurram Agha the federal secretary of communication .
